HIV/ AIDS and poverty – A challenge to the church in the new millennium.
Revd Christo Greyling
September 2001
Christo Greyling is a theologian who has practical experience of congregational work and now mainly works as an HIV and AIDS consultant (September 2001). The author is a haemophiliac who tested HIV positive in 1987. This booklet contains important information on the nature of the challenge the church faces, as well as practical suggestions for the church to become more active in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Greyling emphasises: “Some isolated initiatives from churches are commendable, but as a whole the church’s reaction is led by the passionate few. … The harsh reality is that HIV-infected and affected people experience the Church as silent and absent in their suffering.” |
